WILMINGTON, N.C.- The Brevard College men’s golf team opened their spring season with a 3rd place finish at the Echo Farms Intercollegiate over the weekend, highlighted by a 4th place finish by BC’s Oskar Lundgren.
The Swedish freshman carded a 77 on Saturday and trimmed five strokes on Sunday for a par-round of 72 to tie for 4th place with Chase Dembisky of Mars Hill and Allen-Michael Wilson of NC Wesleyan.
Sebastian Strehl was also solid for BC, finishing tied for 13th after a 77 on Saturday and a 75 on Sunday. Sami Vanni and Luis Vega both carded 158’s (+ 14) to tie for 23rd and crack the top 25.
Brevard’s Paul Calac was the final competitor for the Tornados, shooting one-over par on Sunday to card a total of 163.
The tournament featured ten teams, including South Atlantic Conference foe Mars Hill University, and over 50 golfers. BC’s Diego Ortiz carded a 149 (+5) as an individual for BC, tying him with Lundgren, Dembisky and Wilson in the overall standings.
The Tornados have a quick turnaround as they enter the Richard Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, North Carolina on Monday and Tuesday.
