BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard College (3-5, 1-2 SAC) men’s lacrosse team lost 17-4 while hosting Wingate University (5-2, 1-2 SAC) in a conference match up at the Tornados Lacrosse Field on March 15.
Brevard took an early lead after Alsharif Blackman took the ball to the back of the net at the 13:35 mark of the first quarter. However the Bulldogs quickly recovered to take the lead 3-1 to go into the second quarter.
Wingate shut out Brevard and continued on a seven-goal run to take control of the game in the second quarter. BC was unable to answer their run until the third quarter when freshman, Mathew Dropuljic received an inside pass from teammate Blackman to put in the quick goal and advance Brevard to two goals.
The Bulldog’s Ryan Vogrig contributed five goals towards the final score while teammate Chase Watts contributed a hat trick.
Brevard’s Robert Thornley and Blair Alexandersen finished with one goal each during the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough to help Brevard gain the win.
Brevard will travel to Mars Hill on March 19th for another South Atlantic Conference match-up beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Meares Stadium.
