Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College athletic department and women’s head basketball coach Shannon Reid are pleased to announce that Alexis Atkins, Tempestt Mack and Katelynne Poole have all signed a National Letter of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Brevard College in 2009-2010.
Atkins (Badin, N.C.) is a 5-7 guard coming from North Stanly High School where she plays under head coach Greg Speight. Atkins was the Comets’ 2006 Junior Varsity Most Valuable Player and was the Varsity’s 2007 Offensive MVP. Also in 2007, Atkins was on the Rocky River All-Conference Team and won the Stanly County Player of the Year. Atkins also letters in track for North Stanly.
Mack (Albemarle, N.C.) is a combination guard/forward also coming to Brevard from North Stanly High School. In her junior campaign, Mack averaged 10 points and six rebounds per game on her way to being honorable mention All-Conference and All-County.
Academically, Mack is on the Honor Roll and is a member of The National Society of High School Scholars.
Poole comes to Brevard from East Rowan High School where she plays under Mustang Head Coach Karen Garmon. Poole made the All-County team as a sophomore and a junior and was on the All-Conference team as a sophomore.
Academically, Poole is a member of the National Honor Society and ranks in the top 10 percent of her class with a 4.2 GPA. She is also a member of Jr. Civitans, the Student Council, the Future Homemakers of America, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and Sigma Phi Gamma.
The Brevard women’s basketball team finished 8-19 last year as NCAA Division II and South Atlantic Conference provisional members.
