BREVARD, N.C.-The Tornados took a lead in the 1st inning before running into trouble in the middle frames in a 10-2 loss to the Tusculum Pioneers in Sunday’s series finale at Gil Coan Field.
Brevard took a 1-0 lead in the 1st on a Kody Spencer RBI single through the left side as BC starter Hunter Donaldson (L, 2-2) cruised through the first two innings.
The Pioneers then went on to score 10 straight runs, starting with a four-run 3rd inning against Donaldson. The righty was tagged for eight runs (five earned) before exiting in the 5th.
BC scored the only other run in the 8th on Avery Booker's RBI single up the middle.
The Tornados had 10 hits but couldn’t string them together as they left 10 runners on base on the afternoon. The Pioneers also had 10 hits for the game.
The Tornados are back in action on Tuesday as they play the North Greenville Crusaders at Ashmore Field at 6:30 p.m. The season series is tied at 1-1 after the Crusaders took game on February 25th and the Tornados responded with an 8-3 home win on March 11th.
