MURFREESBORO, N.C.- The Brevard College (0-13, 0-6 SAC) women’s lacrosse team finished the game losing 20-4, after traveling to play at Chowan University (4-9) in their final game of the inaugural season on April 16.
Brevard started the game with a quick goal from Angela Canale at the 24:15 mark of the first half. BC gained possession of the draw control to bring the ball down to the attack zone. Canale was able to retrieve the ball in front of the crease to flip it past the Hawks goalkeeper, Rachel Cramer.
Chowan continued on a ten goal run led by Mackenzie Reid who finished the game with eight goals for the Hawks.
The Tornados put a stop to the Hawks scoring spree after Heather Morris received a quick transition pass from teammate Julia Gasston with only 1:11 left in the first half. The goal marked Morris’ first goal of the season while adding another assist to Gasston’s total points for the season.
Gasston placed in both goals for the Tornados in the second half with assists from Canale and Mackenzie Williams.
Canale led groundballs after scooping up four for the game while Williams and Gasston contributed two each. The Tornados also possessed fourteen of the draw controls compared to the Hawks twelve.
Brevard ends their inaugural season by placing Julia Gasston on the All-SAC Honorable Mention list for the first time in program history and in seventh place standing for their conference.
