BREVARD, N.C.- Head coach Frank Rogers and the Brevard College women’s lacrosse team is excited to announce Kadryn Earl, Shelby Arsenault, Allie McMillan and Marlee Joyce as Tornado commitments for the 2014 season.
Kadryn Earl is a 5’3” attacker from Newnan, Georgia. She lettered two years on the women’s lacrosse team at East Coweta High School while being named varsity captain for the squad. Earl also received Scholar Athlete honors after success in the classroom combined with her achievements on the field.
“Kadyrn comes to us from an outstanding club. Her ability to move to space, see the field well and work hard will be a good addition to our attack unit. We are looking forward to seeing her grow and be a part of our program.”
Shallow Lake, Ontario native, Shelby Arsenault, will join the 2014 team as a goalie. Arsenault is a two-time Provincial Champion in lacrosse while excelling in hockey and rugby for St.Mary’s High School too. Shelby also participated in Relay for Life and other community service projects to help with the area.
“Shelby has a strong international resume. Her athletic achievements have included playing for one of Canada’s top club programs including Edge Elite and Canada’s U-15 National Team, and she was just invited to the Canadian U-19 National Team try-outs. She has very strong communication skills and sees the field very well, which will be a strong asset for our defense.”
Allie McMillan will join BC from Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Her ability to play attack and midfield will help in the transition for the Tornados. McMillan played rugby, volleyball, soccer, basketball and softball while finding her biggest successes on the lacrosse field. She was named Rookie of the Year in 2010 and MVP in 2013. Allie spent the last two years at captain for the V. Sue Cleveland High School team.
“Allie is a very athletic and quick player, who will provide us with strong stick skills and leadership at both ends of the field. Because New Mexico is not well known for their lacrosse she exposed herself against top teams in Colorado and Arizona at a high level of play. I know we will be able to utilize her skills on the field.”
Marlee Joyce is a midfielder from Greensboro, N.C. She will join the Tornados after being a team captain for the Ragsdale High School Team. While playing for the Tigers, she achieved several awards as All-Area, All-Conference and Top Scorer recipient in the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Marlee also placed herself on the school’s Honor Roll from accomplishments in the classroom.
“Marlee is a very versatile player, who works hard and will do whatever you ask of her. She is a very smart player on and off the field. She has good speed and strong defensive leadership that will be a big asset to us in our midfield. We look forward to having her join the class of 2018.”
