Greeneville, Tenn. - The Tornados turned in a solid performance in their first action of the 2009 season, finishing seventh in the Tusculum Invitational tournament on Sunday, March 8th. Brevard finished with a team total of 26-over 596, finishing just one stroke behind Spartanburg Methodist in a battle for sixth.
Coker College took home top honors, finishing up with a collective score of 564, 4-under for the tournament.
Grant Carnie finished with tops among the Tornados for the tournament, shooting a second day 73, 2-over par for a two day total of 145 (3-over) which placed him in a tie for 17th in the tournament. Carnie finished in a tie with Brad Williams from Limestone and Jared Crane from Coker.
Craig Galloway shot a 75 (4-over) from the field on Sunday to finish 6-over for the tournament in a tie for 29th. Joshua Davis (149, 7-over, t-34th), Thomas Rennie (152, 10-over, t-46th) and Bret McGaughey (155, 13-over, t-55th) also carded rounds for Coach David Nelson over the weekend.
The Tornados golfers will take a week off for Spring Break before heading back to the fairway on March 16-17 in Hendersonville, N.C. for the Montreat Spring Invitational.
