WINGATE, N.C. – The Brevard College Women’s Golf team competed in day one of the Wingate Intercollegiate Challenge on Monday. The tournament is hosted at the Rolling Hills Country Club which is a par 72 course.
Courtney Sharp (Jacksboro, Tenn.) was the lone representative for the Tornados. Sharp finished the day with a score of 95, 23 over-par, for the 18-hole course.
Tusculum College’s Katie Tomassoni holds the lead after day one. Tomassoni shot three over-par for a score of 75. Lenoir-Rhyne’s Abbey Hartsell followed close behind with a score of 76. Tusculum’s Ciara Rattana and Pfeiffer’s Meghan Holbrooks finished in a tie for third, both shooting 77 on the day. Daphne Chang of King University and Christie Blaurock of Young Harris rounded out the top-five places turning in 78 for their scorecards.
The Pioneers of Tusculum College stand in the lead after day one of competition. The team shot an overall score of 317. Fellow SAC team, Wingate University is in second, shooting 321 as a team. Young Harris College rounded out the top three teams, finishing with a score of 323 for the first day of tournament.
The Tornados will return to the course for the final day of the Wingate Intercollegiate Challenge on Tuesday.
