Brevard, S.C. – Paul Thomson’s Brevard Tornados kicked things into high gear Saturday, dominating the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial, 9-0. Brevard has not lost in their last seven matches.
Brevard (11-3, 2-2 South Atlantic Conference) started the day with three wins in pairs action. Lindsay Shaeffer and Kim Dixon beat Sofia Lopez and Ann-Sophie Indeherberge, 8-6 in the closest point. Lindsay Hostetter and Kayley Duval downed Emily Osborne and Jenny Powell by an 8-2 count, while Sara Douglas and Merek Slagle topped Mandy Mills and Melanie Smith by the same margin.
In singles, the scoreboard was again painted in black and blue. Shaeffer won in the top flight over Lopez, 7-5, 6-2 and Hostetter beat Inderherberge, 6-1, 6-3. Duval swept Katie Oliver, 6-0, 6-0 and Dixon stood tall over Osborne, 7-5, 6-2. Jennifer Nyman beat Smith, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, and Douglas finished the match with a 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Mills.
The Tornados play their third straight match within the confines of the SAC Wednesday at 3 p.m. against Mars Hill. The Railsplitters (3-5, 0-1 SAC) next face Tusculum, also Wednesday at 3 p.m.
