Brevard, N.C. - Former Catawba College standout Kelly Burdeau has been added to the Brevard College women’s volleyball staff, head coach Brenda Skeffington announced Thursday.Burdeau, a four-year player for the Lady Indians, will join the BC staff as a graduate assistant and will help Coach Skeffington with day-to-day operations, practices, workouts and defense.
“I am thrilled to have Coach Kelly on board, she was recommended very highly by a colleague of mine that coached club ball against her,” stated Skeffington. “She has proven to be an excellent high school coach and will be an asset to our team.”
While a member of the Lady Indians volleyball team from 2001-2004, Catawba was the SAC Tournament Champions in 2001 and won the SAC regular-season title in 2002.
Since graduating in December 2004 with a B.A. in Mathematics and a double-minor in both Education and Spanish, Burdeau has both taught and coached at the high school level. From 2005 to 2008, Burdeau coached both the Varsity and Junior Varsity Volleyball teams at West Iredell High School, where she posted an overall record of 72-11 and was twice named the Coach of the Year, having been NPC Champions in both 2006 and 2007 and was District, Sectional, Regional and North Carolina State Finalist in 2007.
Brevard College was 16-15 last season, as the Tornados competed as provisional members of both the NCAA Division II level and the South Atlantic Conference.
