ROGERS AND MERRILL SIGN WITH BREVARD COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
Brevard, N.C. – The Brevard College athletics department along with head volleyball coach Brenda Skeffington are pleased to announce that Lindsey Rogers and Caroline Merrill have each signed a national letter of intent to attend Brevard College and play volleyball for the Tornados beginning in the 2008-09 season.
Rogers, who hails from Hickory, N.C., can play as both a setter or as a defensive specialist. The 5-3 performer is the current career record holder in assists with 1,131 and digs with 599 at Hickory High School. In her career under Jonna Guill at Hickory High, Rogers was named to the All-Catawba Valley Athletic Conference Team three times and was named the team MVP in 2006-07.
During her last three years at Hickory High, the team posted a 55-10 overall record and made three state-playoff appearances.
Academically, Rogers was a member of the Beta Club, the National Honor Society and was even nominated to attend the North Carolina Governor’s School for Arts during her junior year.
Caroline Merrill, who is from Hendersonville, N.C., is a defensive specialist who played under head coach Graham McCormick. Merrill was an integral part of Hendersonville High School’s three-time state championship volleyball teams.
Brevard College posted a 16-15 record in 2007, as they competed in their second year as an NCAA Division II provisional member and as a provisional member of the South Atlantic Conference.
