Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Athletic Department and Women’s Basketball Coach Shannon Reid are pleased to announce the commitment of Brittany Boyce to attend Brevard College and play for the Tornados in the 2009-2010 season.
Boyce, a 5-7 junior guard from Forest City, N.C., comes to the Tornados by way of Gardner-Webb University. As a freshman, Boyce played in all 31 games, starting 16. In the first collegiate game of her career, she tied a Gardner-Webb record with seven steals, while scoring 15 points against Wofford. She averaged 5.4 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game and 1.1 assists per game during her time as a Runnin’ Bulldog.
Prior to attending Gardner-Webb, Boyce, the daughter of Alisa Higgins, was a standout four-year starter at East Rutherford High School under Coach Larry Ross. A four-time all-conference selection and four-time team MVP, Boyce averaged 21.5 points and six assists in her senior campaign.
Boyce also played on the Asheville Lady Royals and Charlotte Fire AAU teams.
The Tornados women’s basketball team went 6-21 (0-16 SAC) in their inaugural season as full members of NCAA Division II and the South Atlantic Conference.
