Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Athletic Department, in collaboration with Aramark, is hosting its Annual Fall Sports Pigskin Pig-out on Saturday, August 15, at 6:30 p.m., outside at the Porter Center amphitheater.
The Pigskin Pig-out is a great opportunity for fans of all ages to not only meet the Tornado fall sports teams, including the 2009-2010 football, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball teams, but their coaching and the BC Athletic staff as well.
"The Pigskin Pig-outs in past years have been an enjoyable event for our players and staff," commented Head Football Coach Paul Hamilton. "The opportunity for our football team to share time together with family, friends and teammates has been a great experience. It is always a special event for our athletic program."
There will be several unique features to this year’s Pigskin Pig-out as a live band will be providing entertainment throughout the evening with swing, jazz and bluegrass hits and the Tornados Athletic staff will be giving out door prizes throughout the festivities. Coaches Paul Hamilton, Shigeyoshi Shinohara, Juan Mascaro and Skeffington will also be present as they talk about their upcoming seasons as the Tornados move into their second season as full members of the South Atlantic Conference.
"We are blessed to be able to give back to the sport and to the community," said Coach Brenda Skeffington, Tornados volleyball coach. "I work with many local High school camps and with North Carolina High Performance Volleyball. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the folks at the Transylvania Rec. Department, the volleyball community, and the local community for attending matches and supporting us."
Coach Hamilton chimed in by saying, "Community Involvement is so important to the total development of our football program. The interaction between our players and various groups within the Transylvania County area has been so beneficial to their college and athletic experience. It is certainly a great opportunity for them to grow as individuals give back to people that mean so much to Brevard College."
