BREVARD, N.C. – The Tornados could not find the back of the net Wednesday as Mars Hill went on to defeat the Tornados 3-0 at home.
Mars Hill improved to 3-5-2 and 2-1-1 in the SAC, while the Tornados dropped to 1-9 and 0-4 in the SAC.
Mars Hill began scoring early when Rury Caulfield scored from 25 yards out six minutes into the game off of a pass from Simon Marriot.
Jack Shaw saved the remainder of the Lions nine shots in the first half keeping Mars Hill at bay and the Tornados deficit to one going into the half.
The Lions’ did not score their second goal until later in the second half when Giovanni Malnati crossed a shot into the right corner of the net from 20 yards out. Their third and final goal came with three minutes remaining in the game to seal their victory. After a Shaw save, Friddy Hoegenner gathered the rebound and shot the ball into the open corner of the net.
Shaw finished the day with nine saves, while the Lions’ keeper, Alex Huckabee recorded four saves.
The Tornados take a break from conference play on Saturday when North Georgia travels to Brevard for a 4 p.m. match.
