Brevard, N.C. - The Tornados squared off against Lees-McRae yesterday afternoon at nearby Connestee Falls Country Club for a two-team match. Led by medalist Thomas Bush’s 74, Brevard defeated the Bobcats by 11 strokes, 307-318.
The win is the Tornados third victory of the fall season, having taken the trophy at the Montreat Fall Invitational and the win over Benedict University.
Joshua Davis finished in second, leading all with a front-nine 34, before fading with a 41 to finish a stroke behind Bush with a 75, 3-over for the day.
Thomas Rennie recorded a pair of 39’s for the round to finish in a tie for fourth with Matt Washburn with a 78.
Parker Lewis finished two strokes back with an 80, while Mike Jones rounded out Coach Bayne’s top five with an 87, finishing ninth.
The Tornados also placed three individuals in the mix, with Zack Christy, Penn Thompkins and Andrew Hall also teeing off.
The trio finished 10th, 11th and 12th with scores of 91, 95 and 100 for the day.
The Tornados are back in action on Monday, October 4th, as they take part in the Spartanburg Methodist College Fall Invitational at the Links O’Tryon Golf Club in Campobello, S.C.
