Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Athletic Department, in collaboration with Sagebrush, is hosting “Tornado Tip-off”, the Brevard College Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams season preview on Thursday, November 5th, at Boshamer Gymnasium.
The Tornado Tip-off is a great opportunity for fans of all ages to not only meet the Tornados winter sports teams, but their coaching staffs and the BC Athletic staff as well.
The two teams this year feature 25 players hailing from the state of North Carolina, including a number of local players such as Nathan Whitmire (Rosman, N.C./Rosman HS), Whitney and Shane Galloway (Rosman, N.C./Rosman HS), Cody Siniard and Corey Essenberg (Brevard, N.C./Brevard HS) and Jonathan Whitson (Clyde, N.C./Pisgah HS) from the men’s basketball team, while the women’s team features Asheville natives and AC Reynolds high school graduates Amber Roberts, Brianna Worley and Amanda Whitaker, to go with Samantha Winn (Candler, N.C./Enka HS).
The Tip-off will start off at 6 p.m. with a meal catered by Sagebrush Steakhouse held in the auxiliary gymnasium, where Coach Michael Jones, Coach Shannon Reid and several of the Tornados student-athletes will speak about the upcoming 2009-2010 season. Tickets for the preview meal are $5 and can be purchased both ahead of the event and at the door.
After the meal, the festivities will shift over to the competition gymnasium, where the 2009-2010 Tornados women’s basketball team will take the court in a running clock scrimmage, followed by the men’s team.
In-between games, there will be several activities going on the court where fans, students and faculty members alike can participate in, including three-point competitions, half-court shots, free throw contests, a potential faculty member-player contest and much more as well as appearances by the Brevard College Pep Band and the BC Tornados cheerleaders.
