BC MEN'S TENNIS TEAM NAMED ITA ALL-ACADEMIC

Brevard, N.C. – Both the Brevard College men’s and women’s tennis teams were recognized earlier this week for their hard work off the courts and in the classroom last year, as both were named ITA All-Academic Teams.

On the women’s side, the Tornados were one of 42 NCAA Division II schools to be named as an ITA All-Academic Team, with four individual student-athletes – Kimberlee Cooper, Sara Douglas, Kayley Duval and Lindsay Shaeffer - earning the recognition of ITA Scholar Athlete.

On the men’s side, Brevard was one of 11 NCAA Division II schools to be named as an ITA All-Academic Team, with five Tornados – Shane Apps, Jared Fisher, Ben Allweil, Travis Wireback and Konstantin Savelyev – being honored as ITA Scholar Athletes.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
