Newberry, S.C. - The Tornados went into the half down 1-0, but were unable to score or hold Newberry off the board in the second giving up three late goals and losing the conference match 4-0 Wednesday afternoon.
Newberry improves to 3-12-2 and 2-5 in the SAC while Brevard falls to 1-17 and 0-7 in the conference.
Newberry jumped to a 1-0 lead just nine minutes into the game. Following a Jack Shaw save, Scott Busbee found the rebound and scored an unassisted goal from just outside of the penalty area. The Tornados held Newberry scoreless for the remainder of the half and into 63rd minute when Marvin Torvic scored from 40 yards out to make the score 2-0 before adding two more in the 84th minute and the 88th minute to make the final 4-0.
Shaw faced eleven shots on goal saving seven while the Tornados were outshot 26-12 with seven of those shots being on goal.
Chris Landvik-Larsen threatened to score four times for Brevard, while also leading the team with five total shots.
The Tornados play there final game on Saturday at home against Catawba. Seniors will be honored prior the 4:00 start time.
