Brevard, N.C. - The Tornados fell Wednesday night to #8, Carson-Newman. Zoriah Williams led the attack for the Eagles with 17 followed by four other players with double digit scoring figures. Holli Flippo led the Tornados with 14 points while Samantha Winn and Anna Schlobohm chipped in 12 a piece as the Tornados fell, 114-64.
Carson-Newman remains unbeaten with a 16-0 overall record and a 6-0 conference record. The Tornados fall to 6-10 on the year and 0-7 in the conference.
The Eagles began the game with an eight minute, 22-4 run. Brevard scored their first points when Flippo found Lindsay Brendle on a backdoor cut at the 17:15 mark.
Carson-Newman shot 52 percent from the field compared to Brevard’s 28 percent in the first half , taking a 54-20 lead with them into the intermission.
Both Winn and Schlobohm scored half of their points in the first half , leading the team, each with six .
Flippo, who had just three points in the first half, scored 11 in the second, making three of four three point shots, and adding two steals, five rebounds, and two assists.
Ashley Kyle led the Eagles’ defense, recording seven steals, adding to the team’s total of 16. Brevard totaled nine steals and five blocked shots led by Amanda Whitaker with three blocked shots and five assists on the other end of the court.
Brendle and Katelynne Poole each added nine points to Brevard’s total.
The Tornados will take this weekend off before traveling to North Greenville on Monday for a non-conference game beginning at 6:00 p.m.
