David Boyd | Assistant Athletic Trainer
David Boyd joined the Brevard College Athletic Staff in August 2013 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. He will serve as the primary athletic trainer for women's soccer and will assist in all varsity sports for the Tornados.
Boyd came to Brevard after spending a year at Tennessee Tech, where he was the primary athletic trainer for the men's basketball team. In addition to coordinating the team's care and providing coverage at all practices, Boyd supervised the graduate assistant trainers and gained experience with ImPACT concussion testing and the Presagia Medical Documentation System.
Prior to Tennessee Tech, Boyd worked as a graduate assistant at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Penn., assisting with the football, wrestling and softball teams. He assisted with NCAA drug testing by contacting athletes and organizing testing sites. He also taught a taping lab.
In addition to his work at Tennessee Tech and Mercyhurst, Boyd served as the Assistant Medical Coordinator for the 2011 NCAA Women's Frozen Four and as an assistant trainer at the 2011 Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference Wrestling Championships. He also volunteered at the 2010 Empire State Games and has worked youth camps at Penn State's Erie campus. He has completed numerous research projects, including winning first place at the West Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association for his work with cross country injuries. He holds certifications from the National Athletic Trainers' Association and from state boards in Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education at West Virginia before earning a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership at Mercyhurst.
