M. Tennis: Evan Schreiner

Schreiner joined the Brevard staff in June 2015 from Division III Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, where he served for two seasons as an assistant coach. While at Allegheny, Schreiner’s duties included planning and conducting practices and implementing the team’s strength and conditioning program. He helped coach the men’s team to a 12-9 record and a No. 14 final ranking in the Central Region ITA rankings, tops in program history.

“I'm really excited to move close to home in an area I know really well,” Schreiner stated. “I'm very excited to have my first head coaching job and bring this program back to prominence.”

While at Allegheny, the coaching staff placed a large emphasis on service, with the team totaling over 400 hours in the community to lead the athletic department. During Schreiner's tenure, the tennis team received the Team GPA award for having the highest cumulative GPA in the athletic department. He also played a large role in recruiting players to a private institution without athletic scholarships.

"Evan's ability to recruit and experience at all levels of collegiate tennis will make him a strong asset here at Brevard," said Athletic Director Juan Mascaro. "I was very impressed with what he accomplished at Allegheny and his experience in all three NCAA divisions."

Prior to coaching at Allegheny, Schreiner served as a volunteer assistant coach while earning a Master’s degree and teaching leisure skills classes at Clemson University. He worked with multiple all-Atlantic Coast Conference and All-America performers, conducting individual hitting sessions and serving as an on-court coach. He also has extensive experience working at various camps and country clubs.

“I think I've been around very good talent during my time as a player and a coach,” Schreiner said. “My experience in recruiting in Division III will help as Brevard enters the reclassification process. But I've also been around All-Americans and All-ACC players at Clemson and played in Division II, all of which will help me to coach a wide array of players."

A Seneca, South Carolina native, Schreiner graduated from Coker College with a degree in Business Management in 2011 after a four-year playing career. He played as high as No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles and was a three-year captain for the Cobras.
