Keli Poirier joined the Brevard Athletic Training Staff in August 2016 serving as the athletic trainer for Men’s Soccer, Volleyball, and Men’s Lacrosse, as well as assisting in basketball.
Poirier received her Master’s of Science in Advanced Athletic Training from North Dakota State University in 2016. While at North Dakota State, Keli was a graduate assistant for the athletic training department, working with the Women’s Soccer and Track and Field programs. Keli also worked as a part-time athletic trainer at Sanford Orthopedics in Fargo, N.D. where she covered the surrounding community’s youth sporting events.
Keli served as a research assistant at North Dakota State where she helped to research the heating effects of therapeutic ultrasound on intramuscular tissue temperature, both superficially and deep. She also completed her Master’s thesis on tissue temperature increase using water immersion therapeutic ultrasound at 3 MHz, 10 minutes, 1.5cm depth, with varying intensities of 1.0W/cm2 and 1.5W/cm2. Poirier severed as a teaching assistant as well in prevention, care, and athletic injuries classes.
Keli graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training in May 2014. During her undergrad studies, she gained clinical experience working with the Men’s Ice Hockey, Field Hockey, and Track and Field programs at the University as well as serving at Marshwood High School.
Originally from Ashburnham, Massachusetts, Poirier now resides in Brevard, N.C.
