Personal: Atkinson, a 6-0 right side hitter, comes to Brevard from Spartanburg, S.C. from Broome High School. Under head coach Pam Peeler, Atkinson was an All-Region and an All-State player for three years, as well being the Region 2-AA Player of the Year for three years. Atkinson was also named MVP in the SC State All-State 1A-2A match at Lander University.
Atkinson also played basketball and softball for the Centurions, receiving the Best Defense award in basketball.
