ROSWELL, Ga. – The Brevard College mountain biking team emerged with four first place individual finishes in its competition with Georgia Tech over the weekend at Big Creek Park in Roswell, Ga.
Among the top finishers for the Tornados were Carson Beckett, who brought home titles in the Men's A Group Cross Country and Men's A Group Short Track events, Walker Shaw (Men's A Group Downhill) and Hannah Arensman (Women's A Group Short Track).
Shaw was also responsible for third place and a fifth place finishes in the Men's A Group Short Track and Cross Country events, respectively. Meanwhile teammate Scott McGill reached the podium with a second place finish, his best this season.
Kyle Grau led the way for the Tornados in the Men's B Group, garnering a third place finish in the Cross Country and a fourth place in the Short Track event.
Leading the way for the women's team was Arensman and Janelle Cole, who crossed the line in third in the Women's A Group Short Track event.
The duo of Arensman and Cole teamed with Beckett and McGill to place second in the Team Relay event.
"This weekend of racing at Georgia Tech was an incredible time with the Brevard College team," said Arensman of the event. "It reflected how the whole season has been going thus far because everyone raced and encouraged each other like we were at Nationals. Winning the Short Track and having Janelle place third was great for the team. The entire race it was back-and-forth between McKenzie from Savannah College of Art and Design and I from lap one. I was able take the lead going into the last lap and held it to the line."
The Tornados return to the course on Oct. 7-8 when they face King College.
