BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard's track and field team heads to Rock Hill, S.C., for a three-day meet that is hosted by Winthrop University at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Complex, featuring 30 teams and approximately 900 athletes.
The event marks the fourth of the spring for the Tornados, who have previously participated in the Wake Forest Invitational (Jan. 21), Southern Indoor Challenge (Feb. 12) and most recently the 49er Classic (March 17).
In last weekend's 49er Classic, the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams, along with the individual performance of Hassan Kiprono highlighted the first outdoor meet of the 2018 season for the Brevard unit.
Kiprono completed the 3000 meters with a time of 9:23.73, as he edged out Ben Douthit of Bob Jones to finish 39th out of 57 runners in the event.
In the relay events, the team of Adam Spencer, Dylan Bradley, Quentin Jackson and Leejhai Wells ran a time of 44.99 seconds in the 4x100 meter relay to finish 24th overall. The men's 4x400 team of Spencer, Orrlando Johnson, Wells and Jackson completed their race in 3:50.24 to finish 39th overall.
