Joseph Marvin enters his second season as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Brevard College after joining the Tornados on August 1, 2018.
Marvin covers all of Brevard College's 19 varsity level sports. His capacity at Brevard includes daily press releases on bctornados.com, overseeing all statistics, developing publications, programs, graphics, social media, production for live streams, and student-athlete award nomination.
During his first year of work at Brevard College, Marvin oversaw numerous responsibilities in the BC Sports Information Office. He was responsible for all home game setup and breakdown, as well as statistical input for all of Brevard's NCAA-sponsored sports.
Marvin assisted in producing over 100 live streamed athletic contests, initiating the department's efforts on YouTube. Marvin assisted the Sports Information Director Phil de Montmollin with around-the-clock athletic coverage on Brevard College Athletics' social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Marvin spearheaded all of the department's graphical and design initiatives over the course of the 2018-19 academic year, as well as implementing video content into Brevard's catalog, producing several recaps and highlight videos over the course of the seasons.
In addition to these responsibilities, Marvin helps maintain all website content as well as the writing and publication of previews, recaps, and breaking news on bctornados.com as well as the distribution of content to local and regional media outlets.
Prior to arriving at Brevard, Marvin served as a Media Relations Game Day Assistant at Western Carolina University from August 2015 to May 2018. He was responsible for game day functions such as statistical inputting, back up stats, clock operations, scoreboard, and spotting for Western Carolina’s basketball, football, baseball, softball, soccer, and volleyball teams. He assisted in functions with marketing, video production, and game day operations when needed. Alongside his work at Western Carolina, Marvin developed 6+ years of retail sales experience.
Marvin graduated magna cum laude with a 3.815 overall GPA from Western Carolina University in December of 2018, holding a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in Sport Management and a minor in Economics.
