DANVILLE, Va. - The Brevard College Softball team (8-13) dropped both games of a doubleheader to host Averett on Saturday afternoon at Cougar Field in Danville, Virginia.  The Tornados fell in the first game 8-0, followed by an 11-0 loss in game two.

In game one of the doubleheader, the Tornados managed just one hit against Averett starting pitcher Hannah Thompson (7-2).  Thompson held BC hitless with the exception of a one-out single by Olivia Presley in the top of the third inning.  Sara Lallier added a sacrifice bunt in the third inning as well.

The Cougars scored one run in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead.  After BC starting pitcher Micayla McCoy (5-5) shut out Averett in the third frame, one more run was added in the fourth inning.
Averett then exploded with five runs in the top of the fifth to take an 8-0 lead en route to the run-rule victory.
In the second game of the twin bill, BC starting pitcher Ali Grace Hartman (1-2) retired the Cougars 1-2-3 in the first inning.  However, Averett's bats came alive in the second inning with three runs before unleashing an eight-run frame in the third to take an 11-0 lead.
The Tornados managed three hits in game two with McCoy, Mari Cook and Lauren Dowell each recordings singles.  Jocelyn Folkers added a sacrifice bunt for the Tornados.
Taylor Bailey (4-5) earned the win for the Cougars as she combined with reliever Kaitlyn Aherron for the five-inning shutout.
