BREVARD, N.C. – Head Coach Anna Grant has announced the 2019 schedule for the Brevard College Tornados Volleyball program.
The 2019 slate includes a return trip to the Rhodes College Invitational, hosted by Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, seven home matches at the Boshamer Gymnasium, 14 USA South Conference matches, and a total of 12 neutral-site contests. 2019 will also mark the USA South Conference's move to quad-match format.
For the second-straight season, the Tornados will open their season in Memphis, Tenn. at the Rhodes College Invitational, being held from Saturday, August 30 to Sunday, August 31. Fellow NCAA DIII institutions Rhodes, Hendrix College, and Haverford College, alongside fellow USA South schools Agnes Scott College and LaGrange College will be competing in the Invitational. Opponents and match times are still to be determined, as BC will play four matches in total in Memphis.
Brevard returns home for a season-long four-match homestand at the Boshamer Gymnasium. First, the Tornados square off against Emory & Henry College on Thursday, September 5 at 6:30 p.m. Salem College, who is in the USA South East Division, will pay a visit to the Bosh on Friday, September 6 at 6 p.m. before BC hosts a non-conference quad-match on Saturday, September 7. Brevard will face Piedmont International University at 10 a.m. before taking on Guilford College at 2 p.m.
On Saturday, September 14, BC will head to Misenheimer, N.C. for a non-conference tri-match at Pfeiffer University. The Tornados will take on Pfeiffer and Toccoa Falls College, with match time to be determined.
The Tornados then head to Greensboro, N.C. for their second contest of the season against Guilford College on Friday, September 20 at 6 p.m. before making the trip to Lynchburg, Virginia for a tri-match at Randolph College on Saturday, September 21. Brevard faces Randolph at 2 p.m. before facing off against Greensboro College at 4 p.m.
Brevard's USA South slate kicks off on Saturday, September 28 for its first conference quad-match in Montgomery, Alabama on the campus of Huntingdon College. The Tornados take on the host Hawks at 10 a.m. ET before facing the LaGrange Panthers in neutral-site action at 2 p.m. ET.
The month of October begins with back-to-back road quad matches at Berea College and Piedmont College. On Saturday, October 5, the Tornados head to Berea, Kentucky to face Maryville College at 12 p.m. and host Berea College at 4 p.m. Brevard then treks to Demorest, Georgia for two neutral site conference tests. BC faces Agnes Scott College at 12 p.m. and Covenant College at 2 p.m.
Brevard makes a quick stop at the Bosh on Wednesday, October 16 for its first match of the season against Piedmont College at 6 p.m. before embarking to Maryville, Tennessee for rematches against Maryville and Berea on Saturday, October 19. The Tornados face Berea at 12 p.m. before squaring off against Maryville at 4 p.m.
The Tornados host their lone USA South quad match on Saturday, October 26. The Tornados and LaGrange Panthers will play at 10 a.m. before Huntingdon and Brevard close out a busy day of volleyball at the Bosh at 4 p.m.
Brevard will make its second trip of the season to Demorest, Georgia on Wednesday, October 30 to face Piedmont College at 6 p.m. before its season-finale road trip to Decatur, Georgia for a conference quad match on Saturday, November 2. The Tornados face host Agnes Scott at 10 a.m. before closing out their regular season against Covenant at 2 p.m.
