FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team (7-7, 3-4 USA South) dropped a USA South Conference matchup 7-2 to host Methodist University (8-5, 5-1 USAS) on Saturday afternoon at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Madison Bowen, a junior from Greensboro, North Carolina, led the Tornados in the effort against the second-place team in the USA South Conference. Bowen won her number three singles match 6-4, 6-4 over Caitlin Tihanovich. Earlier in the afternoon, Bowen teamed with junior
Jada Ore in number three doubles for the Tornados. The BC duo came away victorious 8-5 over the team of Tihanovich and Katie Sechrist in a highly competitive match.
BC dropped both number one and two doubles by the identical score of 8-3.
Hannah Hersh and
Gracie Spangler represented BC on the number one line, while
Brooke Garland and
Sophie Trantham fought for the Tornados in no. 2 doubles.
In addition to Bowen, Hersh (no. 1), Spangler (no. 2), Garland (no. 4), Trantham (no. 5) and sophomore
Savannah Anderson (no. 6) competed for Brevard in singles action.
The BC women's tennis returns to action on Tuesday with a home match vs. Salem College at 2 p.m. at the McCoy Tennis Complex on the campus of Brevard College. The regular season then concludes on Saturday, April 20 at home vs. Southern Virginia.
