MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team (8-8) concluded its 2023-24 campaign with a narrow 5-3 defeat to Pfeiffer University (15-3) on Tuesday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center in Misenheimer, North Carolina. 

The 2023-24 season marked the third-consecutive season that the Tornados have qualified for the conference postseason, as Brevard this year finished fifth in the regular season standings. 

In Tuesday's match, Brevard started things off with an 8-2 victory in number three doubles, as Madison Bowen and Jada Ore teamed up to defeat Pfeiffer's Haley Ingenito and Kristen Colie. 

The Falcons answered with an 8-5 win in top-flight doubles as Megan Rekieta and Caimbree Gann defeated BC's Hannah Hersh and Gracie Spangler. A back-and-forth number two doubles match went Pfeiffer's way, with PU's Riley Isley and Alison Sloop winning a 7-5 tiebreaker over Brooke Garland and Sophie Trantham to earn the narrow 8-7 victory as the Falcons carried a 2-1 match lead into singles play. 

Hersh dominated Gann 6-2, 6-0 to tie the match up, 2-2, as BC earned a big win in the top flight singles match. Pfeiffer earned wins in the number four and six spots, while Trantham clinched a 6-4, 6-2 decision in the number-five spot, bringing the match to 4-3 in favor of the hosts. Ingenito clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Bowen in number-three singles action, sending the Falcons to the Semifinals on Friday in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
