RALEIGH, N.C. - Senior guard
Josie Hester poured in 29 points with eight made 3-pointers as the Brevard College women's basketball team (13-4, 8-2 USA South) trounced William Peace (4-12, 3-6 USAS) 84-59 on Saturday afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Brevard drilled a season-best 13 made 3-pointers and surpassed the 80-point mark for the fourth time this season.
Hester, a Huntersville, North Carolina native, caught fire with eight 3-pointers made en route to a 29-point performance, as the senior made 75% of her shot attempts in the contest.
Christena Rhone added 12 points, including three 3's, to lead BC's second unit while
Makenna Parkins (nine rebounds) and
Naliyah Boyce (eight rebounds) led BC on the glass.
Brevard made its second-most field goals (32) and hit at a clip of 49% which was the second-best of the 2024-25 campaign. Additionally, Brevard hit 48% of its 3-pointers which was a season-high. BC scored 18 points off Pacer turnovers, poured in 34 points off the bench, and held a 30-16 edge in the painted area.
Brevard set the tone with a dominant 26-8 edge in the first quarter, as the Tornados drained 10 field goals including five 3-pointers. BC continued the momentum into the second quarter, holding a 13-point edge 23-10 to hold a commanding 49-18 lead at the intermission.
William Peace was able to outpace Brevard by six in the second half, but the effort was too late as the Tornados wrapped up their 25-point victory.
The Pacers were led by Zikira Henderson, who scored 24 points. Alayna Randolph added 10 points and nine boards.
Brevard is back in action next Wednesday, January 29 at home when Salem visits the Boshamer Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
