BACK-TO-BACK!!! Zvekan Strike, Nunez Shutout Clinch Second-Straight Regular Season Title

Hardware Coming to Brevard for Second-Consecutive Year

BUENA VISTA, Va. - Brevard College women's soccer (15-0-0, 8-0-0 USA South) clinched its second-consecutive USA South Conference Regular Season Championship, defeating Southern Virginia (9-6-1, 7-1-0 USAS) 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Knight Stadium.

The title makes it the first consecutive regular-season championship for Brevard College since joining both the USA South and the NCAA ranks in any sport. With the win, the Tornados have secured the top seed in the 2025 USA South Conference Women's Soccer Tournament for the second-straight season.

Saturday's triumph extends Brevard's unbeaten streak to 33 matches dating to the end of the 2023 season — the second-longest active streak in NCAA Division III women's soccer, which is also tied for the second-longest active streak across all divisions of NCAA women's soccer. Through 15 matches this fall, the Tornados have outscored opponents 64-3 and continue to rank among the nation's statistical leaders both individually and as a team. BC's 15 wins to start the 2025 campaign give the Tornados far-and-away the best start to a season in program history during the NCAA era. Additionally, BCWS has positioned itself exceptionally well nationally, ranking 41st in the NCAA DIII NPI Selection Rankings.

Zvekan, BC's record-setting forward from Draper, Utah, broke a scoreless stalemate in the 47th minute, converting Brevard's first shot attempt on-goal of the match. Fellow senior forward Olivia Guillermo provided the assist as the Tornados took the lead just over midway through the match.

After the forward duo found Brevard's strike, BC's defense and midfield locked down the Knights, withstanding the 27 total shot attempts, 12 on-target shots, and 10 corner kicks that SVU recorded. Junior goalkeeper Abby Nunez stopped a career-high 10 shots en route to her fourth solo shutout of the 2025 campaign.

The hosts attempted 10 of their 27 attempts within the final 20 minutes of play, but BC held strong to clinch its second-consecutive regular season league title.

Brevard returns home for the 2025 regular season finale on Wednesday, October 29 at 5 p.m. against Pfeiffer, before finding out its first-round opponent with action slated for Saturday, November 1 at Ives-Lemel Family Field.
