Tornados Dominate WildCats as Coach Perry Collects First Win of Career

Emily Denaga and Xan Hill Combine for Nine Goals and Five Assists

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Senior attacker Emily Denaga and junior attacker Xan Hill combined for nine goals and five assists, while Brevard College Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Sarah Perry earned her first career victory as the BC women's lacrosse team (1-3) captured its first win of 2025 in controlling fashion, defeating Randolph College (0-2), 14-3 on Friday afternoon at WildCat Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Denaga, a senior from Buford, Georgia, scored five times with an assist for six points while also grabbing three ground balls, causing three turnovers, and dominating the draw control category with 10 DC's won. Hill led all players with eight points on four goals and four assists, while Arianna Casertano and Madi Norris each tallied a goal and an assist.

Grace Blanton, Kelsey Hamrick, and Alyse Moore all scored goals, while Blanton caused three turnovers and Hamrick collected four ground balls. Kyla Smith-Fondall (1-3) and Lex MacLauchlin each worked in goal for Brevard, with Smith-Fondall recording four saves and MacLauchlin adding one.

BC opened the scoring up two minutes into the contest when Hill connected on an unassisted goal that was answered by Randolph at the 10:32 mark in the first period. Brevard dominated the remainder of the first quarter from that point forward, as Denaga scored three times and Hill added a free-position score that put Brevard up 5-1. The Tornados used a score at the 8:12 mark, coupled with three goals within the final two minutes of the first stanza.

Brevard continued its impressive play in the second period, scoring three times to take an 8-1 lead into the intermission. Denaga, Hill, and Casertano all found the back of the net in succession, with Hill adding an assist in the period.

Four-straight goals by the Tornados set the tone for the second half, as Blanton, Denaga, Hamrick, and Norris all logged scores in the third period. Hill added two more assists to her ledger, with Denaga also recording a dime. Brevard led by 10, 12-2, entering the fourth and final period of play.

Hill found the back of the net for the fourth time of the match, this time off an assist by Sofia Hardin, as Brevard continued to roll towards victory. Moore scored her first goal of the 2025 season and second collegiate goal at the 4:52 mark in the fourth period, while Randolph answered with a goal of its own with 2:01 left to play. BC iced the game from there to secure its first win of the campaign.

The Tornados will be back in action next Saturday, March 8 at 1 p.m. at Ives-Lemel Family Field for the USA South Conference opener against NC Wesleyan. The contest will serve as Brevard's Morgan's Message Dedication Game.
