BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College women's tennis team (5-1, 0-1 USA South) dropped its first match of the 2025 campaign, as Pfeiffer University (10-4, 3-0 USAS) swept the Tornados 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the McCoy Tennix Complex.
Brevard's day was highlighted by a three-set battle in number-two singles action, as the Greensboro, North Carolina senior battled back from a 6-2 defeat in the first set to pull off a 7-6 second-set win thanks to a thrilling 12-10 tiebreaker. In the tiebreaking third set, PU's Sydney Cohen clinched the match with a 10-8 result.
Pfeiffer took the doubles point with a clean sweep, and the Falcons were able to claim all six singles matches to improve to an unbeaten 3-0 mark in conference play.
Brevard is back in action this weekend, as the Tornados head to Staunton, Virginia to face Mary Baldwin on Saturday at 11 a.m.
