BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's tennis team (10-6) saw its 2024-25 campaign come to a close on Monday afternoon as fifth-seeded Southern Virginia University (7-7) took down the Tornados, 4-2, in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
 
Brevard took a 1-0 match lead by taking two-of-three doubles matches, but the Knights were able to storm back, winning four singles matches to take down BC and advance to the semifinals of the USA South Tournament.
 
Senior duo of Noah Lewis and Ethan McGee took down SVU's Trent McBride and Nate Walton in their final doubles match at BC by a final of 6-4. Noah Boyles and Ayden Montero then took care of Jacob Feldman and Chase Rishel, 6-4, as the Tornados took a 1-0 match lead.
 
Bookout claimed a 6-3, 7-5 win at the five-spot in singles, but the Knights were able to punch back with victories in singles matches one-through-four to take the overall match win.
 
The defeat concludes a successful 2024-25 season for the Tornados, who won double-digit matches for the first time since the 2010-11 season. BC began 2024-25 with a 7-0 record for the first time in program history, and Brevard appeared in the ITA DIII top 75 for the first time as a team. This season's postseason appearance marked the fourth-consecutive for Brevard.
