FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Brevard College women's tennis team (8-5) completed its 2024-25 season on Tuesday afternoon, falling 4-0 to four-seed Methodist University (8-8) in the first round of the 2025 USA South Conference Tournament at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center.
The Monarchs jumped out to a 1-0 match lead after sweeping doubles play before winning three singles contests to wrap up the sweep.
The defeat puts a cap on the 2024-25 season for the BC women's tennis team. Brevard began the season 5-0 as a team, the best start to a season in program NCAA history. This season was also the fourth-straight year that the Tornados have qualified for conference postseason play.
A group of four seniors –
Madison Bowen,
Hannah Hersh,
Jada Ore, and
Sophie Trantham – wrapped up their collegiate playing careers. Hersh and Trantham garnered USA South Doubles Team of the Week honors, while Trantham also was awarded USA South Player of the Week earlier this season.
