BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College women's basketball team (17-4, 12-2 USA South) outscored Mary Baldwin (3-18, 2-12 USAS) 51-22 in the second half to wrap up an 86-48 USA South Conference victory on Monday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
With the victory, Brevard has now earned 12 wins in 2025-26 by 20 or more points, overwhelming the opposition. BC has recorded wins in 11 out of its last 12 contests, and currently sits second in the USA South regular season standings. The Tornados are one win from tying and two wins from setting new NCAA-era single-season highs for overall (18) and conference (13) wins in the regular season, both marks set last year.
The Tornados and Fighting Squirrels went toe-to-toe in the first quarter, with Brevard leading by a point after the first 10 minutes, 19-18. BC pushed its lead up to nine points, 35-26, by doubling up MBU in the second quarter, 16-8. Brevard came out of the locker room scorching hot, hitting 10-of-16 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line for a 29-point third quarter that allowed the Tornados to extend their edge to a comfortable 27-point lead after three quarters.
Kenadi Gentry paced the second unit with a career-best 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting in just nine fourth-quarter minutes, as the Tornados finished off their 38-point win in front of their home crowd.
Senior forward
Olivia Miller earned her seventh double-double of 2025-26 with 18 points and 10 rebounds, as the Hudson, N.C. native shot 9-of-14 from the field and added three steals, two blocked shots, and two assists in 26 minutes of action. Analee Morris scored in double figures for the 11
th time this season with 12 points to go with five boards.
Malayka Rankin (nine points) and
Christena Rhone (eight points) pitched in on the offensive end, while
Kayden Johnson (seven rebounds),
Jada Petty-Wilkins (six rebounds), and
Kennedie Noble (five rebounds) helped the Tornados dominate the glass, 52-39. Brevard assisted on 16 of its 32 made baskets, and BC's defense forced 20 turnovers with 13 steals, turning them into 22 points off turnovers. Brevard's bench totaled 35 points, while the Tornados scored 21 points in transition, 44 points in the paint, and racked up 20 second-chance points.
Mary Baldwin's efforts were led by DaVyne Johnson, who scored 15 points. Lanie Bethel added 13 points with three 3-pointers, and Madison Newbauer hauled in six boards.
The Tornados will spend the rest of the week preparing for round two with first-place Southern Virginia. Brevard will make the trip to Buena Vista, Va., on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip time.
