Tornados Secure 6-1 Home Win in USA South Opener

BREVARD, N.C. - The Brevard College men's tennis team (4-6, 1-0 USA South) opened USA South Conference play in dominant fashion on Saturday morning, rolling to a 6-1 victory over William Peace (0-4, 0-1 USAS) at the McCoy Tennis Complex.

Brevard (4-6, 1-0 USA South) set the tone early by sweeping doubles competition to secure the opening point. The No. 1 tandem of Ayden Montero and Noah Boyles cruised to a 6-1 win, while Nathan Bookout and Connor Sechrist matched that score at No. 2 doubles. The Tornados also picked up the third doubles point by default.

In singles play, Brevard won five of six matches to put the contest out of reach.

Montero led the way at the top flight with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory. Bookout followed with a straight-sets win at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-2, while Garret Cardwell and David Hoyle each posted shutout victories at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively.

The Tornados also received a point by default at No. 6 singles.

William Peace's lone point came at No. 2 singles, where Benjamin Cuddington defeated Boyles in straight sets.

The Tornados return to action at home on Sunday at noon vs. LaGrange.
