BREVARD, N.C. – Brevard College has announced its 2026 Athletics Hall of Fame inductees with the selections of Cypress Gorry '16, Sarah Hill '16,
Donald Hudson '11, and the 2016 Mountain Biking Team.
"We are so proud of our 2026 Hall of Fame class," commented Associate VP for Athletics Dr. Myranda Crew.. "The impact they have made as student-athletes and beyond has embodied everything that Brevard College stands for, and we are extremely excited to award them this recognition."
The 2026 class will be officially inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, October 16th during BC's Homecoming weekend. Upon induction, Gorry, Hill, Hudson, and the 2016 Mountain Biking Team will raise the membership in the Brevard College Athletics Hall of Fame to 54.
Cypress Gorry '16 (Cycling)
Gorry, a 2016 graduate of Brevard College, played an integral role in helping guide the Tornados to multiple national championships in his time at Brevard. Gorry earned four individual national titles in his career, propelling Brevard to team national titles in 2012-2014.
"Brevard College helped lay the foundation for what I've done as an athlete and coach," Gorry said. "My time with the cycling team is something I look back on incredibly fondly – the program, the people, and the culture there gave me roots I've carried into competition, into coaching, and into everything I do in the sport. To be inducted into the Hall of Fame is an incredible honor, and one I'm deeply grateful for."
Gorry was also an accomplished athlete in cyclocross, helping the Tornados to team titles from 2013-15. He went on to compete on the professional stage, earning a pair of U-23 individual titles in 2015 and 2016.
Following graduation from Brevard College, Gorry spent six years on the Tornados' coaching staff whole also establishing his own coaching business, Rouleur Coaching.
After his six years on the Brevard coaching staff, Gorry has continued to grow Rouleur Coaching, helping hopeful cyclists with individualized and specialized training. He also works with the Bike Farm in Pisgah Forest, providing guided tours and skills clinics in Transylvania County. He remains involved in the Brevard cycling program, joining the team on training rides and supporting at races.
Sarah Hill '16 (Cycling)
Hill, a 2016 graduate of Brevard College, produced a dazzling career as a member of the Brevard cycling program. She played a major role in BC's first USA Cycling Division I national title in 2016, securing the women's omnium title, awarded to the top all-around rider. Hill ran away with the honor, winning by 84 points after scoring 487 points on the weekend. She was also a huge part of the USA Cycling DII championship a year prior, placing third in the omnium while helping propel BC to the team relay national title.
"It is a huge honor for me to be recognized for this year's Hall of Fame," commented Hill. "Brevard has a special place in my heart. The cycling team was my whole world in college and made my experiences in the USA so special. I am where I am today because of the support and guidance of my fellow professors, coaches, and teammates, and I hope to see this strength continue within the teams' growth. Goodluck to our next generation of riders – may the world be at your fingertips!"
The South Africa native went on to have a successful professional career, signing contracts with Galileo Risk (2018-20), Liv Racing (2021-22), and Efficient Infiniti (2025-present), participating in a full international racing schedule. In her professional career, Hill has competed in multiple UCI XCO World Cups, 200-mile gravel races around the world, Marathon World Champs in Switzerland, Italy, and Scotland, and an annual feature at the 8-day mountain bike Stage race, the Absa Cape Epic.
While continuing her professional racing career, Hill is also establishing a career as a performance psychologist for MindShift Performance, and an integrative performance coach for The Threshold Coaching in Cape Town, South Africa.
Hudson, a 2011 graduate from Brevard College, has become a mainstay in Brevard College athletics, accumulating 17 years of experience as a student-athlete and a coach. He was a dual-sport athlete in basketball and football, making significant contributions to both programs. On the hardwood, Hudson helped the men's basketball program to its first NCAA Tournament appearance, winning the South Atlantic Conference (DII) crown in 2010. On the gridiron, he competed on both sides of the ball, rushing for 186 yards and three touchdowns in 2008-09 and recording 39 tackles as a defensive back in 2009-10.
"Being selected for this year's Hall of Fame is an incredible honor," stated Hudson. "I'm extremely grateful for all the love and support I've had along the way. It's truly humbling."
Following graduation, Hudson served as an assistant coach for both football and basketball before being named the head coach of the women's basketball program in 2016. In his nine seasons leading the program, he has compiled a 134-110 record, including an NCAA-era best 23 wins in 2025-26, also posting an NCAA-era best 16 conference wins.
Hudson earned the USA South Coach of the Year honor following the historic season while guiding four student athletes to all-conference recognitions, including a Defensive Player of the Year selection for
Kayden Johnson, a First Team nod for
Olivia Miller, Second Team honors for
Jada Petty-Wilkins, and an honorable mention for
Analee Morris.
2016 Mountain Bike Team
The 2016 Brevard Mountain Biking team made history in October of 2016, securing the program's first Division I title and ninth overall at the Division I USA Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championship in Snowshoe, West Virginia.
Multiple Tornados contributed to the triumph, with three Tornados finishing in the top five for the women's omnium, two in the top five of the men's omnium, and a relay title. Allison Arensman, Hannah Arensman, Carson Beckett, and Zachary Valdez made history in the event, earning the first Division I team relay title in school history.
The 2016 title marked the sixth title in seven seasons for Brevard College, and the first at the Division I level.
The 2026 class will be inducted into the Brevard College Athletics Hall of Fame on the evening of Friday, October 16 in conjunction with the college's Distinguished Alumni awards ceremony and as part of BC's 2026 Homecoming.
