BREVARD, N.C. – The Brevard College Department of Athletics will be hosting a pair of charitable community events in celebration of Halloween this October.

BC will host its annual Trick or Treat for Cans from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, in which all 21 collegiate sports teams at the College will go around the Brevard community door-to-door collecting cans and non-perishable food items to benefit The Sharing House. The event is in conjunction with the USA South Athletic Conference's "Cans Across the Conference" initiative. Drop-off donations will also be accepted through the month of October at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

Last year, Brevard College collected the fifth-most items in the initiative's history, 17,694, to finish second in Cans Across the Conference. Overall, the USA South institutions collected 59,904 items in 2025, the third-most in the history of the competition. On average, League institutions donated 5,990 items per school, which is the second-highest output in the initiative's history. Over the 21-year history of the program, USA South institutions have donated 719,503 items to various local organizations.

The Tornados will also host their annual Halloween Trunk or Treat at Ives-Lemel Family Field on Saturday, October 31, from 12-2 p.m., held alongside potential USA South Conference Tournament soccer matches and leading up to a 7 p.m. kickoff for BC football vs. Greensboro. There will be candy, face painting, and bouncy houses for children, with the Trunk or Treat taking place at the parking lot of the Field House at Ives-Lemel Family Field. There will also be a halftime costume contest as part of the festivities.
