Dr. Myranda Crews

Dr. Myranda Crews is entering her ninth year as Associate Vice President for Athletics at Brevard College during the 2026–27 academic year. Since returning to the institution in 2018, she has provided visionary leadership focused on academic achievement, competitive excellence, strategic growth, and enhancing the student-athlete experience.

In addition to her leadership at Brevard College, Crews serves on the NCAA Division III Management Council, representing both the USA South Athletic Conference and the Division III membership at-large. The Management Council is the highest-level NCAA committee on which an athletics director may serve, and her current term extends through January 2027. She also serves on the NCAA National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement, and the Division III Federated Playing Rules Subcommittee.

Under Crews' leadership, Brevard Athletics has experienced a transformative period of growth through strategic investments in athletic facilities. Major capital projects include the 2021 expansion of Ives-Lemel Family Field to support the return of football, the addition of a new press box in 2022, and the construction of a state-of-the-art athletic fieldhouse that provides dedicated space for seven varsity programs. Additional enhancements include upgraded lighting and the complete redesign of Chick Martin Court in Boshamer Gym in 2024, the renovation of the Comporium Hospitality and Media Suite through a community partnership, and the 2025 resurfacing of the Frank Patton Track, which included a new pole vault runway and landing area.

Crews also guided Brevard College Athletics through the successful completion of the NCAA Division III membership process. The 2020–21 academic year marked the Tornados' first season of postseason eligibility, and despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, Brevard captured its first USA South Conference Championship with the Men's Soccer West Division title while also earning a Football West Division co-championship.

The department has continued its upward trajectory, winning two additional USA South Men's Soccer Championships, USA South Women's Soccer regular season and tournament championships, and a USA South Women's Basketball regular season co-championship. Nationally, Brevard's renowned Cycling program has claimed 24 individual national championships since 2018, further reinforcing the college's tradition of athletic excellence.

Academic success has remained a hallmark of Crews' leadership. Brevard student-athletes have maintained a cumulative grade point average above 3.0 for sixteen consecutive semesters, culminating in a department-record 3.30 cumulative GPA during the 2025–26 academic year.

An active leader within intercollegiate athletics, Crews previously served as Chair of the USA South Athletic Directors Leadership Team and continues to serve on the conference's Hall of Fame Committee. She is an active member of Women Leaders in College Sports, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), and the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA). Beyond collegiate athletics, she serves on the Transylvania County Crime Stoppers Board and the Board of Advisors for Anderson University's Center for Leadership and Organizations.

Crews began her collegiate athletics administration career at Brevard College in 2010 as Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator. In that role, she supervised six varsity sports, managed departmental budgets, and advised the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She later served as Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota before returning to Brevard College in 2018.

A native of Statesville, North Carolina, Crews earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management with a minor in Leadership and a Master of Business Administration from Western Carolina University. She later earned a Ph.D. in Leadership from Anderson University, where her dissertation, Staying in the Game: A Study on Mentorship and Persistence of Women NCAA Division III Athletics Directors, examined the role of mentorship in the retention and advancement of women athletics directors in the Division III ranks.

Crews and her husband, Cody, reside in DuPont State Forest with their two dogs, Sully and Freya.
