Solomon McDonald has been selected as the Throws Coach for Brevard College, announced BC Director of Track & Field
Josh Hall.
"We are very excited to add Solomon to our coaching staff," commented Coach Hall. "I believe he will bring a wealth of knowledge, great passion, and enthusiasm to our Throws program."
McDonald joins BC after serving as the Assistant Track & Field Coach since 2022 at local prep powerhouse Christ School in Arden, North Carolina. McDonald was a decorated NCAA DI Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field student-athlete at UNC Asheville as a thrower.
"It's an honor to become part of the Tornado community," stated McDonald. "I'm eager to share my passion for track & field with our student-athletes, and I'm especially glad to join such a talented team of throwers and athletes. I look forward to supporting them in achieving success in competition and in life."
During McDonald's time at Christ School, he guided 15 athletes who qualified for state championships, and three of his athletes earned state medals, including one in Discus. The highly successful Christ School Track & Field team won the NCISAA State Championship during McDonald's time with the Greenies.
While a student-athlete himself at UNC Asheville, McDonald was a seven-time Big South Conference medalist and also earned an individual conference championship. McDonald qualified twice for NCAA DI Nationals in Shot Put, and is the UNCA all-time record holder in Indoor and Outdoor Shot Put, while also ranking second in program history for Discus. McDonald was also a two-year team captain with the Bulldogs.
