BREVARD, N.C.- The Tornados' defense shined in Saturday's conference match-up as the Brevard College Women's soccer team (5-11-2, 0-9-1 SAC) held the conference leading offense of Carson-Newman University (11-3, 6-2 SAC) to a 0-0 tie.

Freshman goalkeeper, Laurel Neuzil (Loudon, Tenn.) was lights-out for the Tornados as she finished the game with a career-high 20 saves, just two shy of tying the record. Carson-Newman would attack the whole game as they finished the day with 55 shot attempts. The Tornados' defense was able to hold back the Eagles the entire 110-minutes of play. Brevard had a chance to win the game in the final seconds of the second overtime, but received an offsides call as time expired.

Offensively, Carson-Newman was led by Julianne Herrity who finished the day with 16 shot attempts, four being on goal. Lauren Wade would add eight attempts for the Eagles.

Brevard only recorded two shot attempts for the day. Senior, Anita Maryskova (Liberec, Czech Republic) and sophomore Caroline David (Charlotte, N.C.) would each try for a shot late in the match.

Prior to kickoff, the women's soccer team honored their five seniors. Kelly Turbeville (Columbia, S.C.), Alex Perri (Naples, Fla.), Katlin Burns (Lawndale, N.C.), Anita Maryskova, and Alyssa Bois (Leonardtown, Md.) have each made great contributions to the Tornados' soccer program as well as Brevard College.

Brevard will be back on the road for a non-conference game next Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Emory beginning at 5 pm.
