Brevard Falls to Oglethorpe in Non-Conference Action

Box Score

Atlanta, Ga. – The Brevard College Men's Soccer (1-5-0) team fell to Oglethorpe College (3-2-0) on Monday afternoon by a score of 6-0 in a non-conference test in northern Atlanta, Ga. The Tornados fell on Monday after picking up their first win of the 2018 season against Guilford College last week.

Oglethorpe came out with a consistent attack in this match, as they tallied three goals in the first half alongside three goals in the second half.

The 19th and 20th minutes proved to be costly in the first half for the Tornados, as Oglethorpe found the back of the net three times within this two-minute span.

Oglethorpe came out in the second half looking to attack the Brevard defense as well. The Stormy Petrels rang home two goals in the 56th minute and added an insurance goal in the 87th minute following an Alex Tenjhay yellow card.

Brevard could not slow down the onslaught of the Oglethorpe attack. The Tornados were unable to attempt a shot in the first half, and only mustered two attempts in the second half. Meanwhile, Oglethorpe launched a fury of shot attempts. The Stormy Petrels fired 18 shots in the first half while taking 17 shots in the second half, leading to a 35-2 shooting margin.

Newly named USA South Conference Defensive Player of the Week Patrick Hall (1-5-0) recorded 11 saves in the contest, tying his season high previously recorded against Montreat.

Freshman Goalkeeper Ilias Lankford logged the first action of his Brevard career in this match.
