RALEIGH, N.C. – The Brevard College volleyball team (6-9, 4-5 USA South) fell in straight sets to host William Peace (10-9, 8-2 USAS) in a USA South Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at the Hermann Athletic Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The two teams played very tight in the first two sets with William Peace defeating the Tornados by identical 26-24 scores in both the first and second sets. The Pacers then pulled away with a 25-11 victory in set three to take the sweep.

Brevard was led offensively by senior
Makenna Parkins and junior
Ashley Hoxit, each of whom registered 10 kills. Senior
Kaitlyn Pressley delivered with nine kills as well as 13 assists. Junior
Logan Priddy also recorded 13 assists. Libero
Bailey Lance registered 18 digs and led all players with four service aces.

In the first set, the two teams were tied 21-21 before Pressley set up Hoxit for a kill to start a run by Brevard. Another kill by Hoxit, this time off a Priddy assist gave BC 23-21 lead. Priddy's service then continued with another point for BC setting up set point. The Pacers however responded with a five-point run of their own to take the set 26-24.

The Tornados trailed William Peace 23-22 in set two before a kill by Pressley tied the score 23-23. Pressley followed that winner up with a service ace to put BC again in a set-point scenario. Once again however, the Pacers went on a scoring run with three consecutive points to take the 26-24 win. Ahead 2-0, William Peace went on to take the third set to secure the win.

Brevard returns home to the friendly confines of the Boshamer Gymnasium to take on Warren Wilson on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in non-conference play.
