ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Brevard College men's basketball team finished a stretch of consecutive NCAA DI exhibitions off on Wednesday night, as the Tornados competed with Winthrop University (1-1) in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The Eagles flew forward for a 98-42 victory over Brevard.
The Tornados were led in scoring by graduate guard
Quincy Carter, who totaled 11 points and led the Tornados with three made 3-pointers.
LB Boyette added seven points and five rebounds in his season debut, while
Jadon Carnes totaled five points.
Winthrop was led by Kelton Talford, who totaled 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting with six rebounds. Talford led four double-digit scorers for the Eagles, including K.J. Doucet (17 points), Nick Johnson (13 points) and Kasen Harrison (10 points).
There were plenty of familiar faces on the opposing sideline for the Tornados and Eagles, as Wednesday served as a reunion for former BC Assistant and Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach and current Winthrop Director of Basketball Operations Kaylin Johnson - who served on BC's staff under Head Coach
Lee Burgess for seven full seasons - and former BC Head Coach and current Winthrop Head Coach Mark Prosser, who preceded Coach Burgess on the BC sidelines.
The Tornados will open up the regular season on Friday as Brevard hosts Montreat College at 7 p.m. at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
