Big First Half Lifts Wildcats Past Tornados in 2023 Finale

Randolph Jumps Out to 38-19 Halftime Edge to Silence Brevard

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Brevard College men's basketball team (5-6) fell by a final of 79-56 to Randolph College (7-5) in the final contest of the 2023 calendar year for the Tornados on Saturday afternoon in Lynchburg, Virginia.
 
The Wildcats used a 42% to 33% advantage from the field, a 10-4 margin from beyond the 3-point line, and a 53-39 rebounding edge to cement the victory. Randolph doubled up Brevard 38-19 in the first half, and the Tornados were unable to overcome the deficit in the second period.
 
Brevard was led by Quincy Carter, who tallied 13 points and four rebounds. Kavan Horton added 12 points, as Carter and Horton each knocked in a pair of 3-pointers for the Tornados. Charlie Hester added eight points and a team-best six rebounds while also leading the squad with three blocks and two steals.
 
Randolph's Danny Bickey led the way with a game-high 16 points, while Ryan Davis notched 14 points including four made 3-pointers. Cole Perry led all players with 12 rebounds.
 
The Tornados open up USA South Conference play on Wednesday, January 3 as Brevard hosts Mary Baldwin at 4 p.m., capping off a doubleheader with the women's team.
