Brevard's first drive of the contest resulted in a punt, but the BC defense answered as Burgess picked off Greensboro's pass and returned the ball 39 yards into the GC red zone.
Â
Brevard promptly punched the ball in as Beamish found Lee-Parker for a 26-yard touchdown connection, giving BC the early lead, 7-0.
Â
Greensboro used an eight play, 72-yard drive to tie things right back up at 7-7 with 10:26 left in the first period.
Â
BC's offense wasted no time answering right back, as Beamish connected with Orr for a 49-yard touchdown strike that gave Brevard the lead back, 13-7 after the point-after try was missed.
Â
Greensboro again developed a lengthy drive with an 11-play, 64-yarder on the ensuing possession, but the hosts missed a 20-yard field goal attempt. Brevard was forced to go three and out on its next possession before GC cashed in a 30-yard field goal early in the second quarter to cut the deficit to three points, 13-10.
Â
Another Tornado punt led to Greensboro's second touchdown of the afternoon, as the Pride started their next possession around midfield and took the lead with a touchdown pass that gave the hosts a 17-13 edge. Brevard drove into Greensboro territory, but a fourth-and-five attempt came up just short of the sticks. GC would take its four-point margin into the locker rooms.
Â
Brevard's defense began the second half with a three-and-out to give the Tornado offense the ball back. Lee-Parker busted off four gains of five or more yards, with three of them 10-plus yards, before Beamish found Lovett for a 21-yard touchdown score that gave Brevard the lead back, 20-17.
Â
Both sides traded punts before an 11-play, 82-yard Greensboro drive was all for naught when Woods blocked a 22-yard field goal attempt, keeping the Pride off the board.
Â
On third-and-eight on BC's ensuing drive, Beamish launched it deep to Hogan and connected on a 74-yard bomb that placed BC inside the five-yard line. Lee-Parker punched it in from three yards out as BC extended its lead to a 27-17 margin.
Â
Bowman picked off a Greensboro pass on the next drive, setting the Tornados up with short field. A holding call erased a 23-yard gain for Lee-Parker, but on second and 14 Beamish dialed up another long ball, connecting with Orr for a 62-yard touchdown strike as BC capped off a 21-0 scoring run and extended the gap to 34-17.
