STAUNTON, Va. - The Brevard College women's basketball team (10-4, 6-3 USAS) defeated host Mary Baldwin (2-14, 1-8 USAS) 71-47 in a resounding USA South Conference road win on Saturday afternoon in Staunton, Virginia.
Thirteen Tornados found their way to the scoring column, led by sophomores
Jada Petty-Wilkins (13 points) and
Makayla Street (10 points). Street also pulled down five rebounds to go along with an efficient 4-of-5 shooting night including two made 3-pointers.

Olivia Miller led all players on the glass with nine rebounds. Miller, senior
Alexis Marshall and freshman
Somer Johnson each dished out three assists to lead the Tornados in distributing the basketball. Johnson set new career highs in points (4), assists (3), steals (2) and field goals made (2) on the afternoon.
Junior
Lexi Shepard and senior
Chyna Pouncey each recorded three steals to lead the team defensively to go along with blocked shots by Miller and Plemmons.
Brevard never trailed in the contest, running out to a 15-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. BC continued to outscore MBU in the second period to take a 33-20 lead into the halftime locker room. The lead continued in double figures through the second half en route to the 24-point victory.
BC outshot MBU 46& to 32% from the field. The Tornados dominated in bench points, outscoring the Fighting Squirrels' reserves 45-20. BC also benefited from an impressive 32 points, off 27 Mary Baldwin turnovers.
Brevard will return to action with a non-conference road game at Warren Wilson in Swannanoa, North Carolina on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The Tornados will then return home and back to USA South Conference play on Saturday, January 20 vs. William Peace at the Boshamer Gymnasium.
