WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The seventh seeded Brevard College volleyball team (15-14) fell to second seeded Salem College (29-5), 3-0 in the first round of the USA South Conference Championship Tournament on Tuesday evening in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The match concluded the 2024 season where the Tornados advanced to the postseason for the second straight year and won the most games (15) since 2009.
With the win, Salem advances to the USA South tournament semifinals to take on Thursday in Winston-Salem. The Spirits will face the winner of the William Peace vs. Methodist first round matchup.
Senior
Ashley Hoxit led Brevard with eight kills, nine digs and a service ace. Fellow senior
Makenna Parkins also recorded eight kills, while freshmen Carolina Wampler and
Emma Fontana each registered four kills. Senior libero
Bailey Lance served three aces and tallied eight digs defensively. Freshman setter
Izzy Boulay registered 23 assists to go along with a service ace.
Salem's attack was led by Maia Johnson and Anna Rymer who each recorded 12 kills. Leah Rymer led all players with 39 assists and 13 digs.
Salem won the first set 25-14, before taking the second and third sets 25-18 and 25-14.
